Sleep is the MOST important and vital recovery strategy available to you. It is the central pillar of recovery. When you get sleep wrong you are fighting a losing battle against mental and physical fatigue. Working different shift patterns will create stressors that can test anyone. To retain your capacity to recover and adapt well to any type of stressor (a hard physical day, an upsetting call from home, disagreeing with someone, feeling ill etc.) is what your resilience is all about… your ability to recover, adapt and become stronger. Sleep is essential to supporting your resilience. Respect the need for it.
