Manual Handling, MSK & Fatigue Risk Management Training
Find out if we are the right fit for your organisation.
Traditional manual handling training often focuses on compliance. We focus on behaviour under pressure.
At a recent 7Futures session, we asked 100 people in the room if they had experienced back pain.
96 put their hand up.
Back pain, slips, trips and falls, and musculoskeletal injury aren't edge cases in rail, construction and energy. They're the norm.
Most training ticks a compliance box. It doesn't change the behaviour that causes the injury.
7Futures works differently.
Our sessions are scenario-based and built for the environments your people actually work in: depots, civils sites, energy infrastructure, rail construction. We assess whether people are physically capable of the tasks they face, teach them to move and lift properly, and build the capacity to do the job safely.
The benefits don't stop when the shift ends. Fewer injuries and less absenteeism are the immediate wins. But the principles stay with people, supporting long-term health and keeping your workforce capable for longer.
Trusted by Network Rail, Siemens, Hitachi, BAM Nuttall and Colas.
What We Deliver
Four complementary formats designed for frontline operational environments.
Manual Handling Assault Course
The UK's first interactive, team-based manual handling experience. Participants work through realistic physical challenges that strengthen planning, communication and safe load control under pressure. Not a classroom. Not a tick box. An experience people remember and apply.
Mind Your Step – Slips, Trips & Falls
Slips, trips and falls are among the leading causes of lost time across rail, construction and energy. This interactive session combines hazard recognition, balance control and real-world decision making to reduce preventable incidents at the point they happen, on site and in operational environments.
MSK & Physical Capacity Workshop
Most manual handling training assumes your people are physically ready for the tasks they face. We do not. We assess physical capacity first, identifying those at highest risk before an injury occurs. We then teach people how to move and lift properly, including strength principles drawn from Olympic lifting, to genuinely build the capability your workforce needs. The result is a stronger, more resilient team and a measurable reduction in strain-related injury and absence.
Fatigue & Sleep for Shift Teams
Evidence-based education and practical tools to improve alertness, recovery and safer decision making across long days and night shifts. Network Rail fatigue standards-aligned where required.
Outcomes & Benefits
Safer manual handling and improved task planning
Reduced injury risk and lower injury related absenteeism
Improved shift alertness and physical readiness
Increased physical capability and movement confidence
Greater understanding of fatigue awareness in shift-based environment
Stronger physical and cognitive safety behaviours
Measurable impact delivered with minimal operation disruption
What our clients say
“Back pain and musculoskeletal injuries account for 80% of our lost time at work. The programme was an easy sell to the workforce and the business. It's been encouraging to see individuals adopting the lifting techniques that were taught on the course and driving down MSK centred injuries.”
— Siemens“On reflection, I am beginning to wonder what BAM would do if we didn't have 7Futures. As always, the training met the brief and got the correct messages across. It is incredibly pleasing to hear everybody speak about the training with such joy and enthusiasm”
— Bam Nuttall“Your content and message resonated with our workforce. The session you delivered was really informative and you had the whole room engaged.”
— Colas RailOur approach
We work in safety-critical environments where physical capability, alertness and decision-making directly influence risk. Our programmes are grounded in science and best practice but delivered in a practical, direct and operationally realistic way.
We focus on behaviour change, not just information, ensuring that learning transfers back to site. All sessions are designed to fit around operational delivery, with minimal disruption and maximum relevance.
Also available: the UK's first Manual Handling Assault Course; an interactive team-based experience designed to change behaviour on the ground. Book a call for further details.
