Olympic Lifting for Better Movement & Safer Work with Aidan Syers

This interactive 45 minute session teaches safe and effective techniques for lifting, loading, and pushing heavy objects, while building core strength, mobility, and resilience. By applying the biomechanics and science behind Olympic weightlifting, participants will learn how to reduce stress, vulnerability, and pressure on the body – minimising the risk of injury and long-term complications that can impact everyday life and overall wellbeing. Olympic lifting is a powerful way to care for physical health, working the majority of muscles in the body and helping to maintain strength as we age, when muscle mass naturally declines. Its technical nature also makes it a stimulating mental challenge, requiring focus, coordination, and problem-solving. Combining physical benefits with mental engagement, this is a fun, rewarding, and effective way to improve strength, movement, and confidence.

Aidan Syers is a Sports Performance Coach and Sports Scientist. His work includes coaching Elite Sportspeople for Speed and Conditioning. Lecturing on Sprints Coaching for England Athletics and as a speed consultant.

Aidan is an international sprinter, having competed for England and Great Britain. He spent four seasons as a Sports Scientist for Crystal Palace FC and works as Head of Sports Science at Unique Football Academy, based in London.

Slips, Trips and Falls - Proprioception & Balance

Functional Fitness with Henry Cleminson

Henry will demonstrate practical techniques during this 30 minute session to hone your proprioception (the body’s spatial awareness and sense of movement) and develop balance (the ability to maintain your centre of gravity over your base of support, whether standing still or moving). Both are essential for enhancing coordination, preventing injuries, improving safety and maximising your physical performance.

In today's world, prolonged periods of sedentary activity can become the norm. Integrating functional fitness principles as demonstrated in this 45 minute session combats these effects, promoting:

  • Improved Posture: Reduce the risk of musculoskeletal issues.

  • Enhanced Mobility: Increase ease of movement and flexibility.

  • Improved Energy Levels: Feel more alert and engaged during daily tasks.

Benefits: For individuals, it contributes to better physical health, increased daily energy, and a heightened sense of wellbeing. For teams, it ensures everyone remains agile, engaged, and ready to deliver their best.

Henry Cleminson is a former UK martial arts champion and is a coach to UFC world champion, Leon Edwards.

Using his sports science degree and close relationships with other elite sports coaches he has developed his own functional integrated training and high intensity interval training programmes. These transformative programmes are central to his CoreFit Academy and to our own workplace wellbeing services. His resistance bands expertise is exceptional and is currently being used to support workers at the British Antarctic Base.

Musculoskeletal Screening

A 60 minute Musculoskeletal Screening of the muscles, bones and joints and their related structures: ligaments and tendons. Assessing stability, coordination, mobility, strength and range of motion. These measures can help assess the possibility of future injuries, and poor recovery from past injuries and identify any abnormalities which may help diagnose current causes of pain. Helping with everyday movement and life, increasing safety at work and lowering the chance of injury.

Please note - you will need to wear comfortable clothing for this particular session.
