Resilience, High Performance & Wellbeing for SME Leaders
24th January 2025
Thank you for attending the recent Resilience webinar hosted by the Small Business Charter for the Help to Grow Alumni Network. Colleen and I hope you enjoyed it and found it of practical help. Please feel free to reach out for any further support as it is a complex subject that is difficult to cover in depth in an hour. The following resources will help to reinforce some of the key takeaways. The slide deck includes extra slides we created to help answer any questions...so there may be some we didn't use.

Please note we very much advocate if it's not broken then don't fix it. So, if you:
are sleeping well (7.5 hours or more),
have a good social network which you enjoy regularly,
exercise (at least 20 minutes daily - which includes a moderate walk),
eat nutritiously 80% of the time, and
are able to regulate your emotions in a healthy way (not prone to anxiety, negative thoughts, loss of temper, low temperament etc.)...
do not feel regularly overwhelmed (overwhelm is a sign of a loss of capacity in the nervous system)
then maybe you are doing well! All of the above help protect and enhance your inherent resilience mechanisms managed by your autonomic nervous system. The less of these you do well the more you will need techniques such as those we discussed to help support the stress you experience. The techniques should not really be a replacement for good basic habits, rituals and friendships...they really are a way of developing additional resilience, self-awareness and new capacities for navigating a demanding world.
best wishes
Mark
